SOLID Faith... BIG Trust
Sometimes it is extremely hard to take a seat and trust that the Lord will drive us to our destination. I know that I have struggled with faith. I am a natural worrier, I worry about the future, my wife, my kids, my job, my career, and even though I am still so young... I sill worry. But realize that the Lord understands... After all, he created us. This is why he clearly talks about the importance of faith throughout the bible! One of my favorite verses in the whole bible has to do with worry and faith. "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." (Psalms 139:23-24)
So you might be confused on what faith is, well luckily Hebrews 11 defines and expands on what faith REALLY is.
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." (Hebrews 11:1-3)
So through this text, we get a very detailed description of faith. As the text keep going, it gives example after example of people throughout the bible with faith, it explains faith as the reason behind some of the bibles amazing events.
Keep going, "And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated— since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect." (Hebrews 11:32-34, 36, 37, 40)
Throughout our faith, there will be times it gets hard. Faith even got hard for for those who have SEEN the Lord throughout the bible (Moses, etc.). They still felt as if their eyes and mind were playing tricks on them because at times they felt they weren't getting what they needed, but we must have not only faith... But also trust that we truly ARE getting taken care of.
"I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1, 2)
The final verse I will discuss is a verse more familiar. Like Hebrews 11... Faith and trust are directly discussed. We must begin to have SOLID faith... For without faith our words mean nothing.
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:5-7, 25-27, 33, 34)
